You are right about that. Nothing happenign in the game start chanting Shastri Hai Hai and ya the eternal Pakistan Hai Hai also continues but of late the crowd has sobered down:-)Minalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556930930046840091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1134373297152190792005-12-12T10:41:00.000+03:002005-12-12T10:41:00.000+03:00@Panchatantra: Yes i can imagine the scene in host...@Panchatantra: Yes i can imagine the scene in hostel! It must be absolute fun. I deliberately avoided to mention the behaviour of the crowd in recent times at Eden. Eden is a jewel among the Indian Stadiums and sadly the crowd has not lived up in recent times! Does not work well for its reputation does it?Minalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556930930046840091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1134132187102946402005-12-09T15:43:00.000+03:002005-12-09T15:43:00.000+03:00hi, i am a calcuttan and your post reminded me of ...hi, i am a calcuttan and your post reminded me of some fantastic times that I've had at Edens (i am happy I wasnt a part of the proceedings on occassions where Edens shamed itself)

anyways, i moved to a hostel for my undergrad studies, and watching a match in the hostel common room was kind of like the best of both worlds : there were like 100-150 people sitting in a room bursting at its seams - which meant all the pre and post match analysis, cheering, jeering . Overall the atmosphere would be electric.

We also had the luxury of instant replays !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133777256165452102005-12-05T13:07:00.000+03:002005-12-05T13:07:00.000+03:00@Sujatha: I shall await your post madam. Here in India that would be only possible in your dreams:-)
My sis resides in central london and has been pestering me to visit her soon, and I intend to plan my visit depending on the international cricket schedule at Lord's;-)Minalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556930930046840091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133763162358638642005-12-05T09:12:00.000+03:002005-12-05T09:12:00.000+03:00Hi Minal, I'm going to do a post on the India/SA O...Hi Minal, I'm going to do a post on the India/SA ODI we saw in Bangalore. Your post echoes many of my thoughts.

When we went to London the first time, there was a match going on at Lords and we asked the people at the gate to let us in and they did! It was awesome to see that. The next time we went to London, a colleague of mine gave us two of his tickets to a match at the Oval. We saw NZ and Pakistan. It was awesome!Sujatha Bagalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02140274113596874518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133526428290247552005-12-02T15:27:00.000+03:002005-12-02T15:27:00.000+03:00@Sunil: I've enjoyed matches no matter what, just ...@Sunil: I've enjoyed matches no matter what, just that off late due to tight security ODIs are getting too crowded and tiresome. Test matches are real fun though. Isn't the atmosphere electrifying?
Right on target about Chennai, it's a lovely ground and more so I think the crowd knows its game really well. Btw I don't like the city either;-)

@Mary: I pray both our wishes are fulfilled in this lifetime;-)Minalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556930930046840091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133509415653034562005-12-02T10:43:00.000+03:002005-12-02T10:43:00.000+03:00Minal.. :)Amazing! that's on my 'to do list' as we...Minal.. :)Amazing! that's on my 'to do list' as well! - to see a cricket match at the SCG and also Eden Gardens.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09340170794914497806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133507435578879892005-12-02T10:10:00.000+03:002005-12-02T10:10:00.000+03:00remarkably....i've almost always liked the matches...remarkably....i've almost always liked the matches at the Wankhade.....even though India's lost too many over there.

And i've enjoyed the few matches i've seen at the chinnaswamy (Bangalore), my "home" ground.

But....i'll have to say this (though i dont like that city one bit)...one of the best kept grounds, which always has a fantastically sporting crowd that only wants a good game of cricket is Chennai. The care the curators put in, and the general pride of the crowd with the stadium....i haven't seen too often.

Always amazes me.Sunilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07776658071546232685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133504689656058852005-12-02T09:24:00.000+03:002005-12-02T09:24:00.000+03:00@Sushmit: :-)) I hope someday I'll get to see a ma...@Sushmit: :-)) I hope someday I'll get to see a match at the Eden Gardens. What a ground!Minalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08556930930046840091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13107507.post-1133504636999461892005-12-02T09:23:00.000+03:002005-12-02T09:23:00.000+03:00@Mary: You bet it is!!
